Coastal Retreat - A two day trip to Dahanu’s pristine beach

Our purpose for visiting Dahanu during the summer holidays was simple yet essential: to escape the scorching heat of the city and find solace in the cool, refreshing embrace of the beach. Dahanu's pristine shores offered us the perfect retreat from the rising temperatures, allowing us to unwind and recharge amidst the gentle sea breeze and soothing coastal views. It was a great opportunity to beat the heat, relax, and create unforgettable memories in a peaceful seaside setting.

Let's Begin Day 1:

We boarded the Mumbai local train from Virar Station to Dahanu Station. Many express trains and intercity trains halt at this station. It took an hour to reach the station. Once we finally arrived at Dahanu station, we had some breakfast at a nearby stall and took a shared rickshaw to the beach. So basically there are two parts of the beach, Beach 1 and Beach 2 - an imaginary partition of a long coastline. We had our reservations made prior to our visit at Hotel beach classic which is located just opposite to Beach 2 at a walking distance. It was a steal deal using a bank offer. The prices might vary for offline bookings so try booking online. As we reached earlier than the check-in time, we visited the beach and just enjoyed the cool sea breeze sitting on the bench along with some snacks. Later, we checked-in at the hotel and freshened up before taking a nap with Ac on blast which was much needed after exhaustive traveling.

We went back to the beach later in the evening for a long walk along the shore admiring the lovely sunset, the clean coastal brine and the spotless sand on the beach. The climate by the coast was comparatively pleasant and mild than the city, which made us think even the non/Ac rooms would have worked. To our surprise due to the remoteness of the location it was sparsely crowded. As if it almost felt like an exclusive private beach access. We walked ourselves from Beach 2 to Beach 1 and decided to try out some beach stall snacks - Pani puri and Chinese Bhel.

We left the beach by dinner time, craving for some good seafood. Hotel Dariya Darshan Seafood was recommended by a local lady but since it was closed, we dined in at Mi Aahe Koli restaurant. We had a flavorful seafood meal- Surmai and Rawas thali with fried Bombil(Bombay ducks) and wrapped up the first day of our stay.

Let's Resume Day 2:

Nothing is better than starting your day early in the morning, visiting the beach, spending time together creating memories. That's exactly what we did, enjoying the mesmerizing coastal view, collecting sea shells, making sand arts, basking in the warm sun and gentle sea breeze and wading in the shallow waters of the sea at the beach. We also happened to see tiny harmless crabs crawling all over the beach. Later we went back to the hotel, refreshed ourselves and had lunch at the same hotel we were staying at - Hotel Beach Classic. Tried spicy prawns gravy with tandoori roti, unexpectedly delicious food at a reasonable rate.

After a while, we returned back to the beach for an evening walk and watched the sun dipped below the horizon. We revisited the beach stalls but this time for flavored Gola(ice shavings). You cannot miss this sweet cool refreshment if ever visiting a beach - try Malai Gola. Following, we went to Hotel Dariya Darshan Seafood and ordered Pomfret fish thali for dinner- the flavors were authentic and absolutely delicious.

Spent some time sitting on the bench by the beach as it was our last day in this beautiful coastal town. The evening ambience back in the hotel is just great to have a chilled beer and that’s how we wrapped our last day of Dahanu beach stay.
